Ingredients
Scale
Crust
- 1 pre-made refrigerated pie crust
Filling
- 6 eggs
- ¾ cup heavy cream
- ½ teaspoon salt
- ½ teaspoon black pepper
- ½ cup cheddar cheese, shredded
- ½ cup mozzarella cheese, shredded
- ½ cup Swiss cheese, shredded
- ¼ cup yellow onion, diced
- 2 ½ tablespoons green onions, chopped
Instructions
- Preheat Oven: Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C) to ensure it reaches the correct baking temperature before assembling your quiche.
- Prepare Egg Mixture: In a large bowl, whisk together the eggs, heavy cream, salt, and black pepper until smooth and well combined, creating the custard base for the quiche.
- Add Cheese and Onions: Stir in the shredded cheddar, mozzarella, Swiss cheeses along with diced yellow onions and chopped green onions until evenly distributed throughout the egg mixture.
- Prepare Pie Crust: Roll out the refrigerated pie crust (if not already rolled) and gently press it into a 9-inch pie dish. Crimp the edges with a fork or your fingers to create a decorative edge if desired.
- Fill and Bake: Pour the cheese and egg mixture into the prepared pie crust. Place the pie dish in the preheated oven and bake for 38 to 40 minutes or until the quiche’s center is fully set and a toothpick inserted near the center comes out clean.
- Cool Before Serving: Remove the quiche from the oven and let it cool on a wire rack for 8 to 10 minutes to allow it to set further and make serving easier. Serve warm or at room temperature.
Notes
- Use a mix of cheese types to enhance flavor complexity and richness.
- Let the quiche cool slightly before slicing to ensure clean cuts.
- Can be served warm or at room temperature for versatile eating options.
- Optional: sauté the onions lightly before adding for a milder onion flavor.
- Substitute heavy cream with half-and-half for a lighter quiche but expect a slightly less creamy texture.
