  • Author: Hugo
  • Total Time: 20 minutes
  • Yield: 12-16 bars 1x

Description

S’mores Krispie Bars are a delightful no-bake treat combining the classic flavors of graham crackers, melted marshmallows, and rich Hershey’s milk chocolate. These gooey, crispy bars are easy to make and perfect for satisfying your sweet tooth with a nostalgic twist.

Ingredients

Scale

Main Ingredients

  • 6½ cups golden grahams cereal
  • 4 tablespoons butter (preferably salted)
  • 7 cups mini marshmallows (divided: 6 cups for melting, 1 cup for mixing)
  • 3 bars (1.55 oz each) Hershey’s milk chocolate bars, broken into squares

Instructions

  1. Prepare the baking dish: Spray a 9×13 inch baking dish well with cooking spray or line it with tin foil or parchment paper that has been lightly sprayed. Set aside to use later.
  2. Measure cereal: Place 6½ cups of golden grahams cereal into a large mixing bowl and set aside.
  3. Break chocolate bars: Break the 3 Hershey’s milk chocolate bars into individual squares for layering.
  4. Melt marshmallows and butter: In a large pot over medium heat, combine 6 cups of mini marshmallows and 4 tablespoons of butter. Stir frequently and cook on low-medium to melt smoothly without burning. The mixture should be completely combined and smooth.
  5. Mix marshmallow blend with cereal: Pour the melted marshmallow and butter mixture into the large mixing bowl with golden grahams cereal. Add the remaining 1 cup of mini marshmallows and stir thoroughly to combine evenly.
  6. Form the base layer: Gently press half of the cereal and marshmallow mixture into the prepared baking dish to create an even base layer. Spray your fingertips or the back of a metal spoon with cooking spray to help spread the sticky mixture evenly.
  7. Add chocolate layer: Distribute half of the Hershey’s chocolate squares evenly over the base layer of pressed cereal mixture.
  8. Add top layer: Press the remaining cereal and marshmallow mixture on top of the chocolate squares to cover them, smoothing as much as possible using the sprayed fingertips or spoon back.
  9. Top with remaining chocolate: Press the remaining Hershey’s chocolate squares onto the top layer of the bars, slightly embedding them for a decorative and tasty finish.
  10. Cool and store: The bars can be eaten immediately while warm and gooey or allowed to cool at room temperature to set and come together. Store any leftovers in a covered container or a gallon-sized Ziploc bag at room temperature.

Notes

  • Use low to medium heat when melting marshmallows to prevent burning; stirring often helps maintain smoothness.
  • Spraying your fingers or spoon with cooking spray makes handling sticky marshmallow mixture easier.
  • These bars are best stored at room temperature in an airtight container to maintain their chewy texture.
  • Feel free to substitute semi-sweet or dark chocolate bars if preferred for a different flavor profile.
  • For a gluten-free version, use gluten-free crispy cereal instead of golden grahams.
