Description
This Monkey Bread recipe features soft biscuit dough pieces coated in cinnamon sugar, baked in a buttery brown sugar caramel sauce to create a gooey, pull-apart treat perfect for breakfast or dessert.
Ingredients
Scale
Monkey Bread Dough
- 2 cans Biscuit Dough (16.3 ounces each)
Cinnamon Sugar Coating
- 3/4 cup Granulated Sugar
- 1/2 teaspoon Cinnamon
Caramel Sauce
- 3/4 cup Brown Sugar, packed
- 1 stick Salted Butter (1/2 cup)
Instructions
- Preheat and Prepare Pan: Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and grease a bundt pan thoroughly to prevent sticking.
- Cut Biscuit Dough: Open the cans of biscuit dough and cut each biscuit into quarters to create bite-sized pieces.
- Make Cinnamon Sugar Mixture: In a bowl, combine granulated sugar and cinnamon until they are well mixed.
- Coat Dough Pieces: Roll each biscuit dough quarter in the cinnamon sugar mixture, ensuring they are evenly coated on all sides.
- Arrange in Pan: Place the coated biscuit pieces evenly into the greased bundt pan, layering them to fill the pan.
- Prepare Caramel Sauce: In a small saucepan over medium heat, melt the butter completely. Stir in the packed brown sugar and continue stirring until the sugar dissolves and the mixture becomes caramel-like.
- Pour Sauce Over Dough: Evenly pour the warm caramel sauce over the biscuit pieces in the bundt pan, making sure to cover all pieces.
- Bake: Place the bundt pan in the preheated oven and bake for 30 to 35 minutes, or until the monkey bread is golden brown and cooked through.
- Cool: Remove the pan from the oven and allow the monkey bread to cool in the pan for about 20 minutes to set the caramel sauce.
- Invert and Serve: Carefully invert the bundt pan onto a serving plate to release the monkey bread. The caramel sauce will create a delicious sticky topping. Slice and serve warm, optionally with caramel sauce or ice cream for added indulgence.
Notes
- Use salted butter for the richest flavor, but unsalted butter can be substituted with a pinch of salt added to the caramel sauce.
- Ensure the bundt pan is well-greased to easily release the monkey bread after baking.
- Let the monkey bread cool slightly in the pan before inverting to prevent the caramel from spilling.
- You can add chopped nuts like pecans or walnuts to the caramel sauce before pouring it over the dough for extra crunch.
- Serve warm for the best gooey texture, and leftovers can be reheated gently in the microwave.
