Easy Air Fryer Donuts Recipe

  • Author: Hugo
  • Total Time: 22 minutes
  • Yield: 8 donuts with holes 1x

Description

These Easy Air Fryer Donuts are a quick and delightful homemade treat using flaky biscuit dough. Air frying gives the donuts a perfectly golden crust with minimal oil, making them light and fluffy. Topped with either cinnamon sugar or a sweet glaze, these donuts are perfect for breakfast or a sweet snack any time of day.

Ingredients

Scale

For the Donuts

  • 1 (16.3 oz) can flaky large biscuits (such as Grands! Flaky Biscuits)
  • Vegetable oil for brushing the air fryer
  • 3 tbsp melted butter

For Cinnamon Sugar

  • ½ cup granulated sugar
  • 1 tbsp ground cinnamon

For Glaze

  • 1 cup confectioner’s sugar
  • 2 tbsp milk (or juice, or water)
  • Two drops vanilla or almond extract

Instructions

  1. Prepare Cinnamon Sugar and Glaze: In a shallow dish, mix ½ cup granulated sugar with 1 tablespoon ground cinnamon for the cinnamon sugar coating. In a separate dish, whisk together ½ cup confectioner’s sugar with 1 tablespoon milk and two drops of vanilla or almond extract to create the glaze.
  2. Cut Out Donut Holes: Place the biscuits on a baking sheet. Use a 1-inch round biscuit cutter or a bottle cap to cut out the centers of each biscuit, creating the donut holes and the rings.
  3. Prepare Air Fryer: Brush the inside of the air fryer basket with vegetable oil to prevent sticking. Arrange 3 or 4 donut rings inside the basket, making sure they don’t touch to allow for expansion during cooking.
  4. Air Fry Donuts: Set the air fryer temperature to 350°F (175°C). Cook the donuts for 6 minutes total, flipping them carefully halfway at the 3-minute mark to ensure even cooking and golden brown color.
  5. Coat Donuts: Immediately brush the hot donuts with melted butter. Then, dip and roll one side into the prepared cinnamon sugar mixture or the glaze, depending on your preference. Repeat for all donuts.
  6. Cook Donut Holes: Don’t waste the biscuit centers! Place the donut holes in the air fryer and cook them the same way at 350°F for about 5 minutes, flipping halfway, then coat with butter and your choice of cinnamon sugar or glaze.

Notes

  • Ensure the donuts are spaced out in the air fryer to allow air circulation and avoid soggy spots.
  • The glaze consistency can be adjusted by adding more or less milk depending on your desired thickness.
  • You can substitute the biscuit dough with homemade dough if preferred.
  • Use different extracts like almond or vanilla in the glaze to customize flavor.
  • Always brush the air fryer basket to prevent sticking and make cleanup easier.
