Ingredients
Scale
Strawberry Purée
- 4 medium strawberries, stems removed
- 2.5 tbsp white granulated sugar (or honey or maple syrup as alternatives)
Matcha Mixture
- 1.5 tsp matcha powder
- 4 tbsp boiling hot water
For Serving
- 3/4 cup milk (dairy or plant-based milk)
- 8 ice cubes (optional)
Instructions
- Prepare Strawberry Purée: In a tall 16 oz glass, add the strawberries and granulated sugar. Use a muddler to crush and purée them until smooth. If you don’t have a muddler, finely chop or blend the strawberries with sugar and mix the purée in the glass.
- Add Ice Cubes: Place the ice cubes on top of the puréed strawberries to chill the mixture.
- Pour Milk: Slowly pour the milk over the ice to combine and set aside for the moment.
- Make Matcha: Sift the matcha powder into a small bowl to avoid clumps. Add the boiling hot water and whisk vigorously for about 30 seconds until the matcha is frothy.
- Combine and Serve: Pour the frothed matcha over the milk and strawberry mixture. Stir gently to combine all flavors. Enjoy immediately.
Notes
- You can substitute white granulated sugar with honey or maple syrup for natural sweetness.
- Use plant-based milk such as almond, oat, or soy milk to make this recipe vegan.
- Add more or fewer ice cubes depending on your preferred coldness.
- For a stronger matcha flavor, increase the amount of matcha powder slightly.
- This latte can be enjoyed without ice as a warm beverage by omitting the ice cubes and using warm milk.
