Creamy Shrimp Linguine Explosion is a luscious and flavorful pasta dish featuring tender shrimp cooked in a rich garlic and Parmesan cream sauce, accented by a splash of white wine and fresh lemon juice. Perfect for a comforting weeknight dinner or a special occasion, this recipe delivers a perfect balance of creamy, tangy, and spicy flavors.

Ingredients

Scale

Pasta

  • 12 oz linguine pasta

Shrimp and Sauce

  • 1 lb shrimp, peeled and deveined
  • 2 tbsp olive oil
  • 4 cloves garlic, minced
  • ½ tsp red pepper flakes (optional)
  • ½ cup dry white wine or chicken broth
  • 1 cup heavy cream
  • ½ cup grated Parmesan cheese
  • 1 tbsp fresh lemon juice
  • Salt and black pepper, to taste
  • 2 tbsp fresh parsley, chopped

Instructions

  1. Cook linguine: Bring a large pot of salted water to a boil. Add the linguine pasta and cook according to the package instructions until al dente. Drain the pasta and set aside.
  2. Cook shrimp: Heat olive oil in a large skillet over medium heat. Add the shrimp, season with salt and black pepper, and cook for 2 to 3 minutes on each side until shrimp turn pink and opaque. Remove the shrimp from the skillet and set aside.
  3. Sauté garlic and red pepper flakes: Using the same skillet, add minced garlic and red pepper flakes. Sauté for about 30 seconds until fragrant, taking care not to burn the garlic.
  4. Deglaze with wine or broth: Pour in the dry white wine or chicken broth, scraping up any browned bits from the bottom of the skillet. Let it simmer for 2 to 3 minutes to reduce slightly and concentrate the flavors.
  5. Add cream and thicken sauce: Stir in the heavy cream and bring the mixture to a gentle simmer. Continue cooking for 3 to 4 minutes until the sauce has slightly thickened.
  6. Incorporate cheese and lemon: Add the grated Parmesan cheese and stir until melted into the sauce. Then mix in the fresh lemon juice to add brightness.
  7. Return shrimp to skillet: Add the cooked shrimp back into the skillet and toss them in the creamy sauce to coat thoroughly.
  8. Toss with pasta: Add the cooked linguine to the skillet and toss everything together until the pasta is evenly coated with the shrimp and sauce.
  9. Garnish and serve: Sprinkle chopped fresh parsley over the dish and serve immediately for the best taste and texture.

Notes

  • For a spicier kick, increase the red pepper flakes according to your heat preference.
  • If you prefer a lighter sauce, swap heavy cream for half-and-half or whole milk, but the sauce will be less rich.
  • You can substitute the shrimp with scallops or chicken if desired.
  • Use gluten-free linguine pasta to make this recipe gluten-free.
  • Serve with a side of garlic bread or a fresh green salad for a complete meal.
