  • Author: Hugo
  • Total Time: 20 minutes
  • Yield: 4 servings 1x

Description

Classic Waldorf Salad is a refreshing and crunchy salad combining diced green apples, celery, grapes, and toasted nuts, all enveloped in a creamy dressing made from Greek yogurt, mayonnaise, lemon juice, and honey. This timeless dish offers a perfect balance of sweet and tangy flavors with a satisfying texture, ideal as a light lunch or side dish.

Ingredients

Scale

Dressing

  • 3 tablespoons Greek yogurt (dairy or dairy-free)
  • 3 tablespoons mayonnaise
  • 1 tablespoon lemon juice
  • 1 tablespoon honey

Salad

  • 2 green apples, diced
  • 1 cup diced celery
  • 1 cup grapes, halved
  • 1 cup whole walnuts or pecans, toasted and roughly chopped
  • 2 tablespoons finely chopped parsley
  • ½ teaspoon kosher salt

Optional

  • Butter lettuce leaves for serving

Instructions

  1. Make the dressing. In a small bowl, combine the Greek yogurt, mayonnaise, lemon juice, and honey. Stir well until the dressing is smooth and creamy. Set aside to develop flavors.
  2. Prepare the salad ingredients. In a large mixing bowl, combine the diced green apples, diced celery, halved grapes, toasted and chopped walnuts or pecans, finely chopped parsley, and kosher salt.
  3. Toss the salad. Pour the prepared dressing over the salad ingredients. Gently stir with a large spoon to evenly coat all components with the dressing.
  4. Serve. Optionally, serve the Waldorf salad atop butter lettuce leaves for an elegant presentation. Enjoy immediately for best freshness and crunch.

Notes

  • To toast nuts, place them in a dry skillet over medium heat for 3-5 minutes until fragrant, stirring frequently to avoid burning.
  • For a dairy-free version, use dairy-free Greek-style yogurt and mayonnaise alternatives.
  • Feel free to substitute walnuts with pecans or other nuts of choice.
  • The salad is best served fresh but can be stored covered in the refrigerator for up to 1 day.
