These Chai Spiced Rice Krispie Treats are a delightful twist on the classic, infused with warm chai spices and fragrant Earl Grey tea. Perfect for a cozy snack or dessert, they combine the crispy texture of Rice Krispies with a rich, spiced marshmallow mixture that’s easy to prepare and deliciously addictive.

Ingredients

Scale

Spice Mix

  • ¼ tsp ground cinnamon
  • ¼ tsp ground cardamom
  • ¼ tsp ground cloves
  • ¼ tsp ground ginger
  • ¼ tsp ground star anise
  • 1 tbsp Earl Grey tea (powdered)

Main Ingredients

  • 6 cups Rice Krispie cereal
  • ¼ cup unsalted butter (melted)
  • 10 oz marshmallows

Instructions

  1. Prepare baking dish: Line a 9×9 inch baking dish with parchment paper to prevent sticking and make removal easy.
  2. Make chai spice mix: Combine cardamom, cinnamon, cloves, ginger, star anise, and Earl Grey tea in a spice grinder or food processor. Pulse until well powdered and set aside.
  3. Prepare cereal: Place the Rice Krispie cereal in a large mixing bowl and set aside.
  4. Melt butter and marshmallows: Over medium heat, melt the butter in a saucepan. Add the chai spice mix and marshmallows, stirring continuously until the marshmallows are fully melted and combined with the butter and spices.
  5. Combine mixture with cereal: Pour the spiced marshmallow mixture over the Rice Krispie cereal. Stir thoroughly to coat all the cereal evenly with the marshmallow mixture.
  6. Transfer to baking dish: Spoon the mixture into the prepared baking dish. Press it down firmly and evenly with a spatula to compact the treats.
  7. Cool and serve: Allow the treats to cool for about 10 minutes at room temperature before cutting into squares and serving.
