Scale
Chicken Mixture
- 2 chicken breasts, finely diced
- 2 tbsp hoisin sauce
- 1 tbsp sesame oil
- 1 tbsp soy sauce
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
- 1 tsp minced fresh ginger
Coleslaw
- 1 (397g) bag coleslaw mix
- 4 green onions, thinly sliced
- 1 tbsp sesame oil
- 1 tbsp rice vinegar
- 1 tbsp soy sauce
- 1 tbsp honey
Others
- 16 Wonton wrappers
- Sweet chili sauce, to serve
- Chopped cilantro, to serve
- Sesame seeds, to serve
- Cooking spray or olive/canola oil (for brushing)
Instructions
- Prepare wonton shells: Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C). Lightly spray or brush wonton wrappers with cooking spray or olive/canola oil. Drape them over the sides of a 9×13-inch baking dish and bake for 7-8 minutes, watching carefully to prevent burning. Remove from oven and gently separate the wontons while still pliable to create shells. Return to oven and bake another 7-8 minutes until golden and crispy.
- Cook chicken: In a large bowl, combine the finely diced chicken with hoisin sauce, 1 tbsp sesame oil, 1 tbsp soy sauce, minced garlic, and fresh ginger. Heat a large skillet over high heat and sauté the chicken mixture for 7-8 minutes, stirring frequently, until the chicken is fully cooked and slightly caramelized.
- Make coleslaw: While the chicken cooks, mix the coleslaw bag contents with sliced green onions, 1 tbsp sesame oil, rice vinegar, soy sauce, and honey in a large bowl. Toss well to evenly coat and develop a tangy, slightly sweet slaw.
- Assemble tacos: Spoon the cooked chicken into each crispy wonton shell. Top generously with the prepared coleslaw. Drizzle each taco with sweet chili sauce and garnish with chopped cilantro and sesame seeds for added flavor and crunch. Serve immediately and enjoy these flavorful chicken wonton tacos.
Notes
- Watch the wonton wrappers closely while baking to avoid burning, as they cook quickly.
- For extra crispiness, you can use a wire rack to bake the wontons instead of draping over a dish.
- Leftover chicken can be stored in the refrigerator for up to 3 days and reheated for use.
- These tacos are best served immediately to maintain the crisp texture of the shells.
- Adjust sweet chili sauce amount according to your preferred spice level.
