Ingredients
Cauliflower
- 1 large head cauliflower, cut into bite-sized florets
- 2 tablespoons olive oil
Sauce
- 1/4 cup honey
- 1/4 cup soy sauce (or tamari for gluten-free)
- 2 tablespoons rice vinegar
- 1 tablespoon sesame oil
- 3 cloves garlic, minced
- 1 teaspoon fresh ginger, grated
- Pinch of red pepper flakes (optional)
Garnish
- Sesame seeds, for garnish
- Green onions, chopped, for garnish
Instructions
- Preheat the oven: Preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper to ensure the cauliflower doesn’t stick and cooks evenly.
- Prepare the cauliflower: Toss the cauliflower florets with olive oil on the lined baking sheet. Spread them in a single layer to allow each piece to roast properly.
- Roast the cauliflower: Place the baking sheet in the oven and roast for 20 to 25 minutes, flipping the florets halfway through, until they become tender and slightly browned with a delicious caramelized edge.
- Make the sauce: While the cauliflower is roasting, combine honey, soy sauce, rice vinegar, sesame oil, minced garlic, grated ginger, and optional red pepper flakes in a small saucepan. Heat over medium heat, stirring constantly until the sauce simmers and thickens slightly, about 3 to 5 minutes, then remove from heat.
- Coat and serve: Once the cauliflower is done roasting, transfer it to a large bowl. Pour the warm honey garlic sauce over the cauliflower and toss gently until each piece is evenly coated and sticky. Serve immediately garnished with sesame seeds and chopped green onions for an added crunch and fresh flavor.
Notes
- For a gluten-free version, substitute soy sauce with tamari.
- Adjust the amount of red pepper flakes to your preferred spice level or omit them entirely if you prefer no heat.
- Ensure the cauliflower florets are spread in a single layer on the baking sheet to roast evenly and get crispy edges.
- Use fresh garlic and ginger for the best flavor in the sauce.
- This dish is best served immediately to enjoy the sticky texture; leftovers can be reheated but may lose some crispness.
